About

The name FAIR HUNT stands for SUSTAINABILITY of hunting and hunting on free range animals. This means that we don´t arrange hunts on high fenced properties or hunts for released animals. All destinations are checked for sustainability of the hunt. The sustainability of the hunt is determined by means of a list of criteria that assesses the ecological, economic and socio-cultural effects of hunting practice. Some of the criteria checked are:

  • conservation and improvement of game populations and biodiversity
  • handling of newly colonizing or recurring game species
  • the usage and marketing of game meat
  • the hunting value of the hunting area is maintained or improved by the hunting practice
  • does the hunting operation create jobs for the local population

Our main priorities are the satisfaction of our customers and a successful hunt! This starts with an intensive and detailed communication during the booking process, an onsite personal assistance for our customers during the hunt and ends with a correct billing and quick trophy delivery.

FAIR HUNT also stands for a different path into nature. For example, we allow non-hunters to visit hunting grounds, watch wildlife under expert guidance, and spend the night in cozy hunting lodges. We also organize special nature trips, such as the opportunity to experience the woodcock’s courtship flights and displaying great bustards in spring as well as migrating cranes in Eastern Hungary during October.

For more than twenty years I ran the hunting travel agency Kettner in Austria and Hungary. Five years ago, I moved to the Danish hunting travel agency Diana, which I represent today in Austria, together with Limpopo Travel, the specialist in Africa travel.

Sparked by the outrage about the manipulation of the – since revoked – world record red deer from Bulgaria and “tuned” roebuck trophies from Hungary in recent years, the unspeakable practice of releasing hand-reared pheasants just before shooting and miserable high fence hunting in Austria and elsewhere, I wanted to demarcate myself from such business practices.

Since I have detailed knowledge of many hunting grounds in Hungary and Austria I can evaluate how the local hunting operations work. I was sure that I could organize “fair hunts”. That’s why I founded Fair Hunt in January 2009.
The organization of hunts is not only my job. I also practice this passion during most of my free time. That’s why the “how?” is of such importance to me.
